David Warriner
Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba
After developing an intense interest in everything Jazz and Funk from his parents, growing up in Little Rock, Arkansas, David Warriner found his outlet for music when he began playing trombone for his middle school band. He found that the real fun and fulfillment of learning an instrument came from collaboration with his peers and working on musical projects that really resonated with him and his friends. These experiences shaped his teaching philosophy, which is to help every student find a part of themselves in the music, and give them the resources to allow them to find joy in creating music.
Aside from teaching, David performs around Austin, Texas as sideman and leader playing a large selection of genres, ranging from Jazz, Funk, R&B, and Pop by performing with bands such as Rococo Disco, Sol Y Motion, Chico Jones, and Big Wy’s Brass Band. He received his bachelor’s degree of music at the University of Texas at Austin, studying with Paul Deemer, Mike Sailors, and Diego Rivera.
